My Chinese name is Shumin and I'm also known as Monica. My husband
Daniel and I are blessed with four beautiful children - Benedict (8
years), Agnes (6 years), Anastasia (4 year) and Dominic. I had a rather difficult labour with Benedict
and breastfeeding didn't come easy for both of us. I had a whole array of
breastfeeding-related problems by the time Benedict was 2 months old, but managed to
continue breastfeeding him till he was 19 months old. Thankfully, both birthing and breastfeeding Agnes were a
breeze. I tandem-fed both Agnes and Anastasia for 14 months!
The strong beliefs my husband and I have in breastfeeding and attachment parenting were
formed from the many articles and reading material that we were immersing
ourselves with throughout my first pregnancy. I had decided to breastfeed my
baby for as long as s/he wanted to, even before s/he was born. I looked
everywhere for nursing wear in New Zealand - in the Yellow Pages, at
stores that carry maternity wear, at baby stores, and the Internet. There
weren't much breastfeeding clothing around in New Zealand then, and where it was available, it was not
affordable. Two years on (when I was carrying Agnes), the situation still
hadn't improved much.
I love being a mum, and being able
to give my children the best I can offer. It is not hard, then, to see
how all these personal experiences have led to the birth of MummyMatters. With MummyMatters, I want to encourage and support breastfeeding
mothers by providing affordable, comfortable, stylish and versatile
nursing wear for discreet breastfeeding anywhere, anytime. And it is my
hope that if breastfeeding mums could nurse with confidence and in style,
it may help prolong their decision to breastfeed their little ones.

from home. However,
that does not mean that the professionalism of our service to you is
compromised in any way. It is our mission to provide you with quality

p.s. In the photo above, I was 10 weeks pregnant while feeding
18-month-old Benedict at the Whitsundays in Australia. He weaned shortly
after that, at 19.5 months.
